A ring light is a multi-purpose lighting tool that is most commonly used for beauty shots, portraits and macro photography. Ring lights are usually composed of a large number of small LED diodes forming a circle, however they can also be composed of a single fluorescent tube. 

Ring Lights are so popular compared to other lighting sources as they provide a diffused lighting that can mimic daylight and bring out the models natural skin tone while also reducing the appearance of hard shadow
